Ride+Stride in Buckinghamshire takes place on the second Saturday of September and the object is to raise money for the repair and restoration of churches and chapels of any Christian denomination in the county. This year the date for Ride+Stride is Saturday 9th September 2017.

The Buckinghamshire’s Historic Churches Trust’s (BHCT) Ride+Stride is open to walkers, horse-riders and cyclists and the users of mobility scooters, wheelchairs  and pushchairs and in addition we welcome everyone who wishes to take the opportunity to visit the many churches that  will be open between 10.00 and 18.00hrs. The majority of Buckinghamshire’s churches and chapels will be open, even some of those that rarely provide access will open for all or part of the day. Many churches will have a welcome party and offer refreshments to participants; others supply a form for visitors to sign. Participants can plan their own route or join an organised route or event.

Half the sponsorship money raised goes to the church or chapel of the participant’s choice, and the other half to a general fund administered by the BHCT to provide grants for the fabric maintenance of Bucks churches.

Everything you need to plan your Ride+Stride day is available on the BHCT website www.bucks-historic-churches.org. There are contact details for area organisers who are happy to offer help and advice and all the forms required to take part are available to download.

Last year we introduced a number of organised routes in the county so that groups of people could walk or ride together and enjoy the company of others and this year we plan to put on more similar events.

Many churches put on special events to coincide with Ride + Stride; these range from concerts, talks and tours, coffee mornings, pop up tea rooms, exhibitions and much more. All the latest information about what is going on can be found on the BHCT website.

If you would like more information about Ride+Stride or about the work of BHCT please look on the website or email the address below.

We very much hope that you will be able to join the many other walkers and riders who spend the day enjoying the spectacular architecture and countryside of Buckinghamshire while at the same time raising much needed funds for our beautiful churches.

Thank you.
