Oxfordshire Historic Churches Trust is proud to be part of the national Ride+Stride Day on Saturday 8 September 2018.
This is our major, annual fund-raising activity and Oxfordshire is consistently ranked in the top 5 counties for the amount raised.
The funds raised are spilt between the work of our Trust and local churches and chapels nominated by participating ‘StRiders’. In 2017 we made Grants totalling £217,049 to support restoration and re-ordering projects.
Ride+Stride is a vital fund-raising opportunity enabling OHCT to continue this work!
Whether you are a cyclist, walker or horse-rider – or indeed have a fancy to do something a little more unusual, this is a great way to get out and about in the fresh air, meet new people, see new places or spend a few hours as a family, doing something together.
Traditionally, participants have sought to visit as many churches or chapels as possible but this may not always be a practical way for you to join in – so what about:
- Visiting some local churches with your children (or grandchildren),
- Playing a ‘Spot the Features’ game – ideas of many quirky and fascinating features can be found in our “Curious and Curiouser” section written especially to intrigue children,
- Finding a different mode of transport – whether that is a vintage tractor or a skateboard (that perhaps for the younger participants).
All the necessary details including a list of participating churches and special events you can join – including walking round Oxford with Bishop Steven or cycling with Bishop Colin – will be posted on our website.
We offer on-line registration – just click the link below or email email@example.com
